We are grateful to Richard Schilling for contacting the website with a movie he has created from film taken by his Great Grandfather, aboard Monarch of Bermuda in 1936.

Scenes in this remarkable archive include Queen of Bermuda, Monarch of Bermuda, the Bermudiana Hotel and the Bermuda Railway.

Des Kirkpatrick, former purser on Ocean Monarch in the 1960s, had hoped to display his rare copy of a passenger list from a voyage of Monarch of Bermuda in 1933 at the Grand Reunion, but was disappointed not to be able to attend.  Nonetheless, he has provided Furnessbermudaline.com access to this amazing document, some pages of which are set out below.  Original, courtesy of Des Kirkpatrick.

The video extract below is from, what appears to be, a 1962 promotional film made by or for the former Furness Bermuda Line.   We are trying to determine ownership and would welcome information about this film.  The movie is twenty-six minutes long and, as a taster of what is to come in future updates, a short sequence can be viewed by clicking below.  No prizes for identifying the stars of the film - our own Shirley Thompson and Ernest ‘Steve’ Stephens!
